Daily life
Braga is a mid-size city; Porto is a large city on the coast. Braga is one of Portugal's youngest and most affordable cities, an hour from Porto, with a pretty historic center and a strong family feel. It is rainy in winter and inland, so it suits people who want value and calm over beaches. Porto offers much of Lisbon's charm with lower rents, a real sense of a working city and Atlantic beaches by tram. Winters are wetter and cooler than in the south, and flights to North America are fewer.
