Daily life

Malaga is a large city on the coast; Marbella is a mid-size city on the coast. Malaga has turned from a beach gateway into a proper city with museums, tech companies and one of the mildest winters in Europe. Rents have jumped, the airport is a major hub for the UK, and the Costa del Sol expat belt starts at its edge. Marbella is the Costa del Sol's best-known address: sunny, safe, English-friendly and full of international schools. Rents are near the top of our Spanish set, and daily life usually needs a car.

Living in Malaga: the upsides and downsides
